El día de los Muertos : This is a tradition celebrated in the Coast, the Highlands and the Amazonic regions of the country. It is celebrated in November 2nd of every year and what people do is drink colada morada which is a beverage with typical fruits of the country and purple corn flour; they eat guaguas de pan that is bread with the shape of a person and inside of it, it has jam. This is eaten because the colada morada represents the blood of the death and the guaguas the pan represents the body.
Año viejo: This is a big doll that is made with old clothes and newspapers, the doll will be burnt in new year’s eve at 12:00 to start the new year by burning this. Nowadays people also sells dolls of every character you can imagine, from presidents and politicians of the country to singers and famous characters in movies, they are sold and it has become a very popular tradition in the country.
Inti Raymi: It is the feast of the sun celebrated between June 17 and 23, celebrated by different Ecuadorian indigenous communities. At this party, Paccha Mama is thanked for allowing the sowing and harvesting of products. It is celebrated with different foods, dances, songs, lots of music and joy.
